India’s Largest Drug Bust: Coast Guard Seizes 5,500 kg of Meth!
A record-breaking drug bust! The Indian Coast Guard seizes 5,500 kg of methamphetamine near the Andaman and Nicobar Islands—the largest in its history.
On November 24, a Coast Guard aircraft spotted a suspicious trawler, 150 km from Port Blair, triggering swift action.
Fast patrol boats intercepted the vessel, Soe Wai Yan Htoo, and towed it to Port Blair for inspection.
Inside, officials discovered over 3,000 packets of meth, weighing 2 kg each. Six Myanmar nationals were arrested.
Defense officials believe the drugs were intended for India and neighboring countries, highlighting a growing regional drug trade.
This isn’t India’s first victory. Earlier this year, over 700 kg of meth was seized in another high-stakes operation.
The Coast Guard’s relentless efforts have led to 3,500 kg of drugs captured in 2024 alone, reinforcing India’s stance against trafficking.
