In A First, Ukraine Targets Russian Naval Base With Long-Range Drones In The Caspian Sea

Ukraine has conducted its first-ever long-range drone attack on a Russian naval base in the Caspian Sea, a striking 1,500 kilometers away from the frontlines.

The attack targeted Russia’s Caspian Flotilla in Kaspiysk, Dagestan, damaging several Russian warships, including the Dagestan and Tatarstan missile ships.

Videos shared on social media captured low-flying drones followed by explosions near the Kaspiysk port, marking a powerful escalation in Ukraine’s long-range strike capability.

In response, Makhachkala Airport, located 15 kilometers from the attack site, was temporarily closed as a security measure.

This Caspian Sea attack is Ukraine’s fourth long-range strike within Russian territory this fall, showcasing Kyiv's increasing reach and precision.

The targeted Russian Caspian flotilla is significant, as it has launched missile strikes against Ukraine and supported ground operations in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.

Ukrainian sources report damage to at least two Russian missile ships, though Russian officials claim that air defenses intercepted the drones.

This attack highlights Ukraine's advancements in drone technology, as Kyiv works to develop long-range drones, aiming to extend its reach further into Russian territory.
