Houthis Claim Another Strike on U.S. Aircraft Carrier

The Houthis in Yemen have claimed a second attack on the U.S. aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman within a week, escalating tensions in the Red Sea region.

Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree stated the attack involved two cruise missiles and four drones, thwarting a U.S. aerial operation against Yemen.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has not responded to these claims, focusing instead on counter-ISIS operations in Syria and Iraq.

Recent CENTCOM updates highlight multiple raids on ISIS positions, capturing a key leader in Syria, showcasing the U.S. military’s ongoing regional priorities.

Meanwhile, Houthi missile and drone strikes have extended to Israel, sparking Israeli retaliation and the potential for intensified military actions.

The aircraft carrier Truman, deployed since September 2024, arrived in the region in mid-December amid heightened tensions with the Houthis.

Houthi claims also include downing two U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drones in December, underlining their increasing use of drone warfare against U.S. assets.

As conflict intensifies, the Red Sea becomes a hotspot for regional and global powers, with tensions unlikely to ease in the near future.
