Watch: China Steel VLOC Smashes Into Evergreen Containership

Watch the video of an ore carrier operated by Taiwan’s China Steel Corporation colliding with an Evergreen post Panamax containership at Kaohsiung port.

The viral video on facebook show 206,600 DWT China Steel Innovator hitting the 8,452 TEU containership Ever Laden berthed at the port.

The ore carrier dropped both anchors to avoid the collision whereas a tugboat also tried to stop the vessel but eventually failed. Both vessels and the tugboat suffered damage, although no causalities were reported in the incident.

Preliminary investigations by Kaohsiung port authority found that China Steel Innovator had difficulties in manoeuvring and the vessel has now been barred from leaving the port until inspections are completed.
