General cargo ship Mina I recently ran aground at the port of Maltepe, Turkey. The vessel dragged anchor due to stormy weather while it was anchored near the port in Marmara sea.
The vessel was pushed to the shore and was eventually stuck next to the breakwater, touching the sandy bottom and just a few meters away from having allision with the breakwater.
Ship did not suffered major damages and there was no immediate danger from sinking. The accident was reported to the Coast Guard and local authorities, who started salvage operation. The divers were sent to inspect the condition of the Turkish general cargo ship and was found the hull is not breached.
