World’s Largest Maritime Security Partnership Gets Finland As 43rd Member
Combined Maritime Forces, the biggest maritime security partnership in the world, welcomed Finland as its 43rd member on April 17, 2024.
CMF Commander George Wikoff expressed happiness at Finland’s entry into the Combined Maritime Forces.
He said the Finnish People offer a rich history of maritime cooperation and professionalism.
CMF has a headquarters staff and 5 Combined Task Forces, which focus on eliminating terrorism and piracy, encouraging regional maritime cooperation and establishing a safe maritime environment for shipping and seafarers.
This Naval Partnership abides by the International Maritime Rules and Laws to uphold maritime security and stability across the wide expanse of seas and oceans through which some of the most vital shipping routes pass.
CMF is the biggest naval partnership in the world, with 43 nations as its members. Its task forces operate in different regions of the world.
The CTF 150 ensures maritime security in the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Oman and eastern Gulf of Aden.
CTF 151 undertakes anti-piracy missions, and CTF 152 operates in the Arabian Gulf.
CTF 153 ensures security in the western Gulf of Aden, the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb.
CTF 154 was founded in May to improve security training in the region.
