A relaxing river cruise on Bangkok’s famous Chao Phraya River turned into a nerve-wracking experience for tourists when rising water levels brought the ship dangerously close to a bridge.

Passengers were forced to crouch down to avoid hitting the bridge. The terrifying video was captured by a Chinese passenger onboard and widely shared online.

The incident occurred after heavy rains caused the water level to rise dramatically.

While travelling under a bridge, cruise staff advised passengers to duck for their safety. The shocked tourists immediately complied, with some taking shelter beneath the tables.

According to reports, the unseasonal rains that caused the water to swell have increased safety concerns for local boat operators.
