Wallenius Wilhelmsen Wins 12-Year Deal To Operate Largest Vehicle Port In Scandinavia
Oslo-based shipping company Wallenius Wilhelmsen has been awarded a 12-year contract to operate the vehicle and RoRo terminal at the Port of Gothenburg, starting in February 2026.
The Port of Gothenburg, the largest vehicle-handling port in Scandinavia, is a key hub connecting the Nordic region with global markets, including the Far East, North America, Africa, Australia, and Northern Europe.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen aims to transform the terminal into a “one-stop shop” for carriers and customers by offering integrated supply chain solutions.
The company plans to invest €6 million ($6.1 million) to upgrade the terminal’s infrastructure, buildings and operational areas.
A company spokesperson said that the new role of terminal operator is a milestone in the company’s vision for sustainable and innovative growth.
The partnership with the Port of Gothenburg will enhance operational efficiency and improve logistics solutions in the region.
The Port of Gothenburg is a critical part of the Nordic logistics network. Its strong rail and road connectivity provides additional distribution channels, making it a highly strategic location for handling vehicle and RoRo cargo.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s operational capabilities will maximise the potential of the port. The company aims to co-create a hub that will serve both the Scandinavian market and global trade routes.
The 12-year concession agreement signifies a long-term partnership with the port. By 2026, the company plans to fully integrate its operations and provide seamless, efficient logistics solutions to carriers and customers.
