Video: Indian Navy Conducts Successful Missile Test In Arabian Sea
The Indian Navy’s warship INS Surat successfully test-fired a Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MR-SAM) in the Arabian Sea.
The missile accurately hit a sea-skimming target.
According to official information, this successful test was carried out on April 24, 2025.
The ship is India’s fourth and final warship under the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer project and features 75 per cent indigenous components.
It is equipped with advanced weapons, sensors, and state-of-the-art network-centric systems, making it one of the most advanced destroyers in the world.
The ship is also the first Artificial Intelligence-enabled warship of the Indian Navy.
The MR-SAM system used in the test has been jointly developed with Israel.

It has an interception range of 70 kilometres and is designed to counter various aerial threats, including incoming missiles.
Officials stated that the missile is also capable of tackling surface-to-surface threats, proving its versatility in modern naval warfare.
The Navy shared a video clip of the test on social media, where it described the launch as a “precision cooperative engagement of a sea skimming target” conducted under real operational conditions.
The post said that the achievement showcases the Indian Navy’s commitment to protecting India’s maritime interests and supporting the vision of a self-reliant India under the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
The test firing was conducted just before Pakistan’s scheduled missile testing in the same region.
Earlier that day, Pakistan had declared a no-fly zone over parts of the Arabian Sea, reportedly in preparation for testing a new missile with a range of 480 kilometres.
Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, which took the lives of at least 26 tourists, sources reveal that the Pakistan Air Force was put on high alert.
The Indian Navy recently concluded its participation in the maiden edition of the AIKEYME naval exercise.
Naval ships INS Chennai and INS Kesari sailed from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on April 19, after completing the joint activity.
The navy mentioned in its statement that Rear Admiral AR Hassan, Navy Commander of the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF) and Commodore Agyapal Singh, India’s Defence Attache, were present at the departure ceremony.
The closing event for the AIKEYME exercise featured a detailed debrief, cultural programs, and speeches from top officials.
Major General Gaguti, Chief of Personnel of TPDF, was the chief guest at the ceremony.
