U.S Navy Awards $15 Million Contract To Verizon For Delivering Data And Voice Services
Verizon Public Sector has been awarded a whopping $15 million task order by the Navy Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (abbreviated the MWR) contract vehicle under the federal gov’s Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS). The carrier will offer voice and data services in domestic as well as international regions, according to the work order.
The EIS was given in two parts: voice and data. Verizon stated that it will combine novel services and technologies to satisfy advanced voice requirements, as well as modify data services, including a transfer from the Navy’s TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) voice platform to ethernet.
Verizon has received various contracts from the federal government of the United States. Last year, for example, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) awarded the Verizon Public Sector nearly $1 billion in new business, which includes a $28.35 million contract with the DoD to provide integrated voice and data services to the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic.
More recently, Verizon was awarded a 15-year critical infrastructure deal with the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) for more than $2 billion to develop, build, manage, and maintain the FAA’s next-gen communications platform.
Per Maggie Hallbach, Verizon’s senior VP of the public sector, the MWR contract award is the latest demonstration of Verizon’s commitment to the digital transformation of federal agencies and the larger public sector.
Their public sector knowledge and extensive experience coupled with industry-leading professional and managed services capabilities separates Verizon as a premier public sector collaborator, Hallbach added.
