TotalEnergies Completes First Digital Bunker Delivery For MOL In Singapore
TotalEnergies Marine Fuels has carried out its first-ever successful digital bunker delivery for Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. in Singapore. Making the best use of Bunkerchain’s leading eBDN system, Touch and Sail, on 2 February. Total Energies supplied fuel to a MOL-owned car carrier, Swallow Ace, and issued an eBDN. This transaction was transmitted to Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority (abbreviated MPA) via a digital bunkering platform.
Singapore is the first-ever port to implement eBDNs. The MPA is also all set to mandate eBDN use by the end of next year. Louise Tricoire, the VP of TotalEnergies Marine Fuels, commented that they were proud of such an achievement, which not just enhances the efficiency of their bunkering operations but makes sure that their current processes are fit for purpose as the shipping industry transitions toward a decarbonized and sustainable future.
The operation keeps them abreast of regulatory needs in Singapore and reflects their commitment to bolstering sustainability in the more significant maritime sector and their approach to supporting customers in their operations. Bunkerchain and TotalEnergies Marine Fuels have been working together since late 2022 when the firms were doing a biofuels bunkering trial led by the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonization (abbreviated GCMD).
TotalEnergies Marine Fuels collaborated with the Jurong Port Universal Terminal (abbreviated JPUT) and Bunkerchain to generate Electronic Certificates of Quality and Electronic Certificates of Quantity. Since 2020, TotalEnergies has been one of the key suppliers to start issuing eBDNs for LNG bunker operations in Europe using its chartered bunker vessels, Gas Vitality and Gas Agility. MOL now owns both vessels.
