Sailor Killed in Pearl Harbor Attack Identified by DNA Analysis More Than 8 Decades Later
A sailor from the Second World War Period has been identified more than eight decades after he died at the Pearl Harbour.
The 19-year-old David Walker was believed to have died when the torpedoes and bombs struck the battleship USS California.
Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency used DNA analysis to identify him.
He was among the 103 crew members who were killed when the ship was targeted. He was a native of Virginia, and his remains were exhumed with 24 others from a Hawaiian cemetery in 2018.
He died just a year after enlisting in the Navy, and his remains would be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in September.
