Russian LNG Tanker Leaves Chinese Port Carrying Sanctioned Cargo
A Russian tanker carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 project has departed a Chinese port, according to ship-tracking data.
The tanker, named Voskhod, left its anchorage at an LNG terminal in Tieshan, located in China’s southwestern Guangxi region, and was heading southwards on Sunday, LSEG data showed.
The vessel carried 150,000 cubic meters of LNG, which was loaded at the Arctic LNG 2 facility in Gydan, northern Siberia, on July 19.
This shipment is the second cargo from the sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 project to reach China, following the tanker Arctic Mulan docked at the Beihai LNG terminal in late August.
The delivery by Arctic Mulan marked the first shipment from the project to reach an end-user since production began last year. It remains unclear whether the LNG on board the Voskhod was offloaded at Tieshan port.
