One Of The World’s Largest Shipping Companies Wins Prestigious World LNG Shipping Award 2024
Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL), a global leader in LNG transplantation was awarded the prestigious World LNG Shipping Award 2024 at the World LNG Summit held in Berlin from December 9 to 12, 2024.
The award honours companies that have made significant contributions to the LNG Shipping industry through technological advancements, emission reductions and innovative solutions.
The award recognises MOL’s outstanding contributions to the industry through innovation, sustainability and its leadership in sustainability efforts.
At the summit, three awards were announced to honour companies that have greatly contributed to the development and future of the LNG industry through commercial and technological advancements.
MOL was a finalist in two categories: the World Energy Transition Award 2024 and the World LNG Shipping Award 2024.
MOL, led by President Takeshi Hashimoto and headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo was honoured for its long-standing experience in LNG transplantation.
Operating the world’s largest LNG Fleet, MOL was praised for its advanced technologies, efforts to promote LNG as a marine fuel, and the introduction of environmentally friendly systems like the “Wind Challenger” wind propulsion system.
The company’s initiatives in maritime education and innovative technological solutions were also highlighted in the summit.
On December 11, MOL Executive Officer Suryan Wirya-Simunovic participated in a panel discussion at the summit, sharing insights on the LNG industry’s role in achieving a low-carbon and decarbonised society.
He also discussed the company’s commitment to leveraging its expertise in LNG transportation and expanding its business into areas such as gas liquefaction, storage, regasification, power generation, and LNG supply chain development.
The World LNG Summit, held annually, is one of the most important events in the global energy sector.
It brings together policymakers, industry leaders, energy providers and experts to discuss the latest trends, challenges and innovations in LNG.
The 2024 summit in Berlin attracted key stakeholders from Europe and around the world, focusing on the energy transition and the future of global energy markets.
