Merchant Navy Officer Dies Onboard Ship Under Suspicious Conditions, Family Suggests Foul Play

A Merchant Navy Officer from India, aged 21 died in suspicious conditions on a ship close to the coast of the United Kingdom.

Per authorities, the young officer died by suicide while he was training on a crude oil tanker, registered under the Marshall Islands.

His family has not accepted the suicide claim and is suggesting foul play.

He left home on December 7 and stepped foot on the vessel, three days later on December 10.

He was to join from Singapore.

The family got a call from the employer on March 16, 2025, informing them that their son was missing.

Upon hearing this, his father booked a flight to London immediately and when he reached the ship, he was informed of his only son’s tragic death by suicide.

However, his father has pointed fingers towards the ship’s officers, emphasising his son could not take his own life, stating that he was killed.

In a shocking revelation, he said that his son had sent him video recordings in which he alleged constant harassment by the ship’s Chief Officer, Second Officer and an AP-1. He had also spoken about how they were preventing him from sleeping.

When the young officer went to the Captain with his problem, the Captain simply did not take any measures.

His family is filled with grief as they said he was not mentally distressed and had been deemed mentally fit in a psychometric medical test that he took 3 months ago.

His post-mortem took place on Monday.

The family has asked for a government probe, targeting the crew members and the shipping company.
