Maersk Tankers To Launch New Chemical Tanker Pool To Maximize Partner Results
Maersk Tankers, operating one of the largest tanker fleets, will launch a new chemical tanker pool on October 1st, 2024.
The new pool, the Maersk Tankers Chemicals, aims to leverage the company’s expertise in chemical vessel operations to maximize returns for partners’ J19 vessels.
Maersk Tankers Chemicals will offer appealing features such as no minimum commitment duration, flexible redelivery terms, a streamlined onboarding process and a fair and transparent revenue model.
The initiative aims to increase support from existing partners while also improving Maersk Tankers’ market offering.
The J19 classification usually refers to chemical tankers made of stainless steel that weigh between 19,000 and 22,500 deadweight tons (DWT).
The Asp Lily, Asp Sunrise, NV Athena, NV Minerva, and Windsor are the five vessels listed on Maersk Tankers’ website.
Maersk Tankers recently acquired Penfield Marine, a boutique commercial management company, to create a large-scale tanker company that offers a range of services to pool partners and cargo customers.
The newly merged company now manages a fleet of around 240 vessels, including 45 vessels owned by affiliated companies.
Penfield Marine, founded in 2012, manages global operations across various pools, including Aframax/LR2, Panamax/LR1, and Suezmax. It serves diverse customers, including major oil companies and traders.
Maersk Tankers operates nine pools: Aframax, City, Handy, Intermediate, LR1, LR2, MR, Panamax, and Suezmax.
