Korean Seafarer Rescued After Falling from Merchant Ship in Qatar
On 24 May, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) declared that a collaboration of different Qatari forces successfully rescued a Korean national after he fell from a merchant vessel in Qatari waters.
The joint search and rescue teams immediately acted after information regarding this incident reached them from the crew members of the cargo ship.
The search and rescue teams comprised the Internal Security Force dubbed “Lekhwiya”, the General Directorate of Coasts and Border Security, the Maritime and Air Search and Rescue teams, and the Amiri Naval and Air Force.
Intensified search activities at the same location of the vessel and surrounding marine zones ensued, with the joint forces using helicopters and advanced marine vessels.
The joint efforts got over 24 hours later, with the missing individual found in the water.
On being saved, the individual was transported to Hamad Hospital directly for first aid.
