Indian Seafarer Goes Missing, Family Plea Government Probe
A merchant navy sailor hailing from Dehradun, Ankit Saklani, has gone missing for 10 days while travelling from Russia to Turkey. Ankit killed himself by leaping into the sea and claimed the ship’s workers, which his family received on December 18.
However, they suspect he was “kidnapped or murdered.” His spouse, Pinky, informed ANI that her husband began working on December 1 for Elvis Ship Management, a Mumbai-based company, and has not been seen since December 18. Ten days after joining, she said Ankit began sending her “weird messages” expressing his desire to go back.
Ankit sent messages to his brother Nishant and wife Pinky on December 11, stating that things weren’t fine and that anything that happened to him should be attributed to the work of a crew member. The family was notified by the ship’s captain that Ankit had committed suicide six days later.
Saklani told ANI that he texted his wife on December 11th, stating that the firm would be held accountable if something were to happen to him. She mentioned that she had spoken with the Mumbai-based company about this. The ship is now on its route. Therefore, signoff can only be completed until it reaches the port in Turkey on December 18, according to the two firm representatives who hired him, Dinesh Jaiswal and a lady.
The business is separating itself and referring to it as a suicide. The incident occurred at 11 a.m. and on the day of the ship’s approaching port arrival and her husband’s impending signoff, they reported it at 5 a.m. There’s a suspicion. The wife of the missing sailor said the company stated that a search operation was underway for two to three days, but they have since stopped responding to messages.
Ankit Saklani lives in Dehradun with his daughter, who is four years old. In addition, the family sent a letter regarding the occurrence to the Turkish Embassy. In the meantime, Ankit’s brother has demanded an investigation from Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami in a letter, citing suspicions of foul play. Pinky has claimed that the company has stopped communicating with the family and is portraying the tragedy as a suicide.
