Damen Shipyards Delivers Sea-Based Rocket Landing Platform To Blue Origin
Damen Shipyards, a Dutch-based shipbuilding company, has successfully delivered a specialized barge named Jacklyn to the American aerospace and spaceflight company Blue Origin.
The vessel, designed as a sea-based landing platform for Blue Origin’s New Glenn Rocket program, arrived at its home port in Cape Canaveral, Florida, on September 4, 2024.
The Jacklyn will play an important part in Blue Origin’s aerospace operations by providing a secure platform for recovering the reusable booster of the New Glenn rocket.

The vessel’s design ensures safe landings after each mission, allowing the booster to be refurbished and prepared for future flights.
Damen Shipyards, based in the Netherlands, is proud to be involved in this project.
Per reports, Marnix Brouwer, Damen’s Area Manager for North America, reiterated the company’s satisfaction with the project while also acknowledging Blue Origin’s trust in them. Brouwer also wished the New Glenn program continued success.
The barge’s arrival is a major accomplishment for Blue Origin. It improves the company’s ability to gather and reuse essential components, which supports its long-term goal of sustainable and cost-effective space exploration.
