Anschütz’s WINBS Clears FAT For Royal Navy’s Type 31 Inspiration Class
Anschütz has completed the intense Factory Acceptance Test (abbreviated FAT) of Warship Integrated Navigation and Bridge System (abbreviated WINBS) for the first-ever vessel of the brand-new Type 31 Inspiration Class for the UK’s Royal Navy. Anschütz, as a part of the Thales-headed T31 Missions Systems team, is successfully delivering the first-ever Integrated Bridge and Navigation System for the Babcock Type 31 Arrowhead 140 frigates in the New Year.
The FAT was reportedly carried out by Anschuetz UK Ltd., which is responsible for testing, integrating, and commissioning the Type 31 WINBS. It took place at the new testing and integration facilities at the Portsdown Technology Park toward the end of 2023.
Anschuetz UK provides robust technical and logistical support to UK-based naval customers. It has further invested in a modern and well-equipped new site to provide local support to the future Royal Navy fleet. The strong team comprises professionals with excellent knowledge of marine electronics and many years of experience working with customers in the UK.
The WINBS, exclusively designed for the Type 31 Arrowhead 140, boasts the most recent integrated navigation and bridge system tech for war vessels. It comprises unique system solutions for tactical navigation, integrated navigation, naval radars, mission systems, automatic and steering control systems, and a complete suite of navigational and communication systems.
Using the synergies in logistics and operations, the Type 31 WINBS can expand on the core Type 26 bridge system design and offers advanced navigational and tactical capabilities engineered in Anschütz’s open architecture bridge system framework.
