Anduril Launches AI-Based Undersea Sensor Network For Real-Time Communication

An American defense technology company, Anduril has launched a revolutionary AI-enabled undersea sensor network, Seabed Sentry, designed for continuous monitoring and real-time communication on the ocean floor.
This advanced system is built to improve maritime awareness for both defense and commercial operations, offering a cost-effective and efficient alternative to traditional underwater surveillance solutions.
Seabed Sentry consists of mobile, autonomous sensor nodes that can detect, process and relay critical data without relying on fixed infrastructure.
The system is intended to bridge gaps in subsea sensing and communications, providing a strong and adaptable defense grid that can be deployed in challenging underwater environments.
Unlike surface or air vehicles that have clear lines of sight and stable connectivity, underwater communication remains a major challenge.
Current subsea sensing technologies often operate in isolation, with slow data transmission and limited networking capabilities.
Anduril has designed Seabed Sentry to address these challenges by creating a real-time data exchange network that can support faster decision-making and operational responses.
The system is equipped with AI-powered autonomous awareness that allows it to analyse and transmit data efficiently.
Seabed Sentry is built to outperform existing seabed surveillance technologies with endurance ranging from months to years, a depth rating beyond 500 meters, a payload capacity of over 0.5 cubic meters and a modular reusable design.
It is designed to be deployed by Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and can function as a defensive grid for securing critical maritime areas and infrastructure.
The system offers an open-systems architecture, enabling the integration of various first or third-party sensors and payloads. Its capabilities are listed below:

- Anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare operations
The system leverages Ultra Maritime’s Sea Spear technology, which enhances long-range sensing capabilities in remote underwater locations.
Seabed Sentry can cover large areas without requiring expensive installation and maintenance with its cable-free operation, making it more practical and scalable than traditional seabed surveillance systems.
It runs on Anduril’s Lattice AI software platform, which enhances its data processing, analysis, and communication capabilities.
This AI-driven network allows operators to detect, analyse, and respond to threats faster and at a lower cost compared to existing defense solutions.
The ability to reuse and redeploy the system after cleaning and recharging reduces operational costs and minimises production delays.
