Chris-Marine & IOP Marine To Launch New Products

In a time of general downturn within the marine industry, Swedish-based Chris-Marine and the recently incorporated IOP Marine continue to surge forward with the launch of several new products.

Upon request from major engine designer Wärtsilä, a portable valve spindle grinder (PVG) has been developed for on-site machining of all types of cylinder air-intake/exhaust valve spindles with a disc diameter up to 250mm on small and medium bore diesel engines.

The pneumatically driven Portable Valve spindle Grinder is designed to be mounted either horizontally or vertically for optimal performance, and is delivered with fixed angles according to the customer’s choice. Being delivered in 2 cases with the heaviest case of 28kgs, the machine is easily
transported to the workplace and can even be checked in on airplanes.

The other new addition to Chris-Marine’s wide range of products, the Portable Surface Lathe machine (PSL), offers faster maintenance of sealing surfaces on engines up to 260 mm in bore diameter (maximal machining diameter is 350 mm), as well as upgrade of W32 gas engines to W34 gas engines. Approved and recommended by Wärtsilä, the PSL is used for machining of sealing surfaces between cylinder head and cylinder liner and between cylinder head and engine frame on small bore diesel engines. The Portable Surface Lathe machine is electrically driven and easily operated by one man.

Finally, the technicians at IOP Marine have developed a portable fuel Injector Grinding Tool (IGT) for reconditioning of fuel injector pipe sealing surfaces on medium speed diesel engines. The IGT offers the possibility of saving both time and money as it is easily adapted to suit different engine types.

With the launch of the above new products and several more in the pipeline, Chris-Marine and IOP Marine is looking forward with optimism. According to Sales Director Jens Groth: “Our main focus has been to continue to develop new products that maintain the high quality, which both companies
have become known for, and we are therefore pleased to see that these new machines have been well-received by the market”.

With the close collaboration between engine designers, manufacturers and Chris-Marine & IOP Marine’s skilled technicians and engineers, both companies continue on the path toward delivering equipment that is reliable, durable as well as functional.
