Costa Concordia, a cruise ship carrying more than 4000 passengers ran aground off the coast of Tuscany on Friday night. The ship capsized after rupturing its hull.
According to the reports still 70 people are missing whereas 6 have been confirmed dead.
The Concordia’s captain, Francesco Schettino, and first officer Ciro Ambrosio have been arrested and are being questioned about the events leading up to the disaster. There might be possible charges of multiple man slaughter and abandoning the ship while the passengers were still in danger.
The cruise ship capsized after getting hit by a rock while the passengers were having dinner.
Several passengers were reported to jump in the waters and swim about 400 meters to the shore.
Many survivors reported that the terrifying pictures of the sinking ship reminded them of the Titanic.
