Yes in my experience as a 5 years seafarer we should choose a good company to work with but in my country we don’t have any choice since we have agent for only one shipping company. It is really sad to say this and I am now trying my best to change the company online. Sometimes coming across scams. It is very difficult to try for offshore jobs online without agent. Anyway s I am trying my best and I am not giving up untill I succeed. I have very bitter experience too. I haven’t been given an embarkation date after I disembarked on medical grounds. Very much neglected by the company. I am jobless since May 2013. Jobless and stressed calling the agent now and then. they say I am still on waiting list. I have responsibility. I am the breadearner of my family. Trying to get hold of a career again..
